How to change your life in just 15 minutes per day, with this powerful morning routine stack

If you have been reading my emails for any amount of time, you will know I am a HUGE fan of a morning routine.

If you are new here, then hey, and FYI I like to talk habits, routines, life hacks that help you to increase motivation, productivity and all things to help you truly go after and live your best life.

So could you create just 15 minutes in your day to start implementing these simplistic but very powerful 3 steps?

It’s just 15 minutes, we could all create that by spending a little less time on social media right?

All too often we are overwhelmed with the amount of ‘stuff’ that we need to cram into our already very full lives.

BUT the key is to implement teeny tiny habits, one ickle baby step at a time.

This month’s focus within the Shine Squad has been all about habit creation, productivity and streamlining systems. Basically how you can fit all the things into your day without feeling completely burnt out and frazzled.

Because let’s face it, if you want to create more awesome in your life, there are areas you are going to have to step it up a level, right??

“The secrets to getting results that last is to never stop making improvements” – James Clear

Always be open to looking at how you can get that one percent better each and every day, and I truly believe that a morning routine is the ultimate starting foundation of just that.

This is just a small part of Morning Magic routine which is a whole module in itself from within the Shine Squad membership.

But here I share with you the most effective way to get started with, including the things that can really shift the focus of your mindset in the morning, and ultimately your ability to keep on reaching for your goals.

#1 – Breathwork

When you get up in the morning after hitting the snooze button for the 10th million time you are already on the back foot. Rushing around the house, despratley trying to get out on time, with barley a moment for a swig of coffee never mind having anything proper to eat for breakfast. Then to be chasing your tail the entire day, it can be hard to feel like you are never getting ahead of yourself. It’s no wonder you are completely wiped out by the end of the day, and no motivation to do anything but slob on the couch

What if you could slow that pace first thing in the morning and take a few moments to not only catch you breath but intentionally take the time to slow it down?

Simply for five minutes??

This is about slowing the mind as much as the body, moving from your flight or fight reflex and instead tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system to calm into rest and digest mode. It’s not only beneficial for your mindset, but your physiology and stops the body from being in a state of chronic stress.

The technique is simple.

  • Set a soft sounding timer on your phone for just 5 minutes
  • Close your eyes, sit up straight and relax your shoulders.
  • Breathe in deeply and exhale completely making the breath long, slow and deep and just notice the breath flowing in and out of the body
  • Ask yourself the question. If I was to show up as my best self today what would that look like?

#2 – Journal – Write Into Reality

Again setting your timer for just 5 minutes. Write out what showed up for you when you ask the question about showing up as your best self.

You can use any notebook, but I love to have a nice journal that I love writing in. I am currently using a Dingbat notebook CLICK HERE to check them out. I love that they are more eco conscious using sustainable paper, vegan leather backed and they also donate a portion of their revenue to the charity WWF

Free write in your notebook on how you would want to show up in your life for just the day ahead. Showing up with your health, your nutrition, hydration and your movement for the day. How you show up for your family and significant others, how you show up at work. How you are showing up as your most confident best self who fully believes that today is going to be a good day

#3 – Plan

Spend the final five minutes writing in any appointments, meetings and things that you want to get completed for the day ahead. You can do this in your notebook, or of course CLICK HERE and get the free downloadable copy of my planner and the daily focus sheets to help you with this. Taking the time to identify what the 3 top priority items are for that day. Ask yourself if you were to be living into that best self vision today, what 3 things could you do to help you move towards your big dreams and goals.

The 3 things that will have the biggest impact on moving the needle towards your bigger goals. They go at the top and get highlighted.

Having too many items on your list can lead to overwhelm and procrastination, so I like to keep it specific and effective.

Then head out into your day knowing that you have taken the time to tune in with yourself, with your energy but also your intentions for how you want your day to turn out. Action your priority items and feel the satisfaction of knowing that today you went out and did the things you know are going to help your growth.

Sure not every day is going to be perfect, it won’t always turn out as you had envisioned BUT with repetition this practice allows you to take back control of the things that you DO want to create as you move towards living your best life.

Because creating this energy and intention in the morning WILL change the results that you have in your life when you create consistency with it.

I’d love to know if you try this out, let me know in the comments

Love Always
