So how was it for you?? This week for many was the first day back at school and work and time to get back into our regular routines.
Hurarrrr right?!?!? NO ?!?!?!
I know that many people may dread Monday especially the first one back of the year!! And if you do dread a Monday morning then maybe it’s a wake up call for you to do something about that!!
I love getting back to some regular routine and having the time out has left me feeling fired up for the year ahead.
So today I wanted to share with you my top 5 super simple tips on making this year, one that is pretty damn awesome.
#1 – Prioritise your health – I always bang on about this one, but lets face it, without your health you have nothing. I often hear people spouting that eating healthy and exercising is about wasting your life, and that life is too short.
Being healthy doesn’t have to be restrictive and painful and it will give you more energy and focus to do more of the fun things in life. Feeling uncomfortable in your body and shying away from doing things because you don’t feel good in your own skin, is a life that is wasted, not to mention being constantly plagued with illness. It doesn’t have the be hard, just move your body regularly, aim to work up a sweat at least 3-5 days a week doing something you like doing, drink more water, cook fresh healthy meals, take some good quality fish oils.
#2 Put Some Play In Your Day – There is a great quote by George Bernard Shaw who was a play writer “we don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old when we stop playing”, and it’s just so true. As we grow up life gets so serious, we forget how to play, be silly and lose control every now and then. I challenge you to add regular play into your week. Could you play with the kids, could you set up some challenges, events within your community?
Challenge yourself to complete a fun run or obstacle race, join a team game, find a new hobby or sport. Think about what it is to actually play and figure out how you can get more of it into your life. Life is meant to be fun, so find something that will whack a smile on your face.
#3 Go On Adventures – This is something I believe in whole heartedly. Life is more exciting, fulfilling and enjoyable when you add adventure into your life. I have always thrived of going into the unknown, doing something new, exploring new places. Adventures can be big or small, it can be mini adventures out in the countryside with the kids or family, it can be something as big as cycling down the amazon or climbing a mountain. Adventures will open your mind to the possibilities of just what you are capable of achieving as well as submersing you in the wonders of nature.
Of course I believe in adventures so much that I have made it a part of my daily life. Heck moving to the mountains was one hell of an adventure that I continue to live every day. I’m so excited to create life-changing experiences for those that are coming to adventure with us in the mountains this year. #4 Create Real Connections With The People That Matter – Spend quality time with the people that are important to you. This was never more apparent for me than this year. Living away from my friends and family has made me come to appreciate them sooooo much more. I talked a lot in the end of year review work that I sent out to you guys about the fuzz factor. The things that just make your heart feel happy, full and good quality connection is one of those things. Looking at people in the eye when they talk to you and not in your phone, experiencing things together, having proper conversations, allowing yourself to be vulnerable and open with one another and laughing until your cheeks hurt. Creating memories with the people that mean something in your life and open up your heart.
#5 Keep Following Your Dreams – Your dreams matter. You are put here for a reason, follow your passions, even if you don’t know where it will lead you. Follow your own intuition and the things that feel right for you. Far too many people settle, settle for the shitty job that they hate but it pays ok so that’s enough. I’m not saying you should all go and quit your jobs, there are jobs out there for every type of person. But if you know you have that niggling feeling inside that you were destined for something more than you are experiencing right now then just choose to follow that feeling, take action on it and keep on taking action even when things don’t work out.
I hope these inspire you to have your best year with health, happiness and adventure.
Big love to you all
